It’s not Christmas! What was I thinking?
Well, I’ll tell you. I was thinking it was time for some new stuff. New fluff, new toys…new stuff. So, I did what any crafter would do in a selfish moment. I hit up etsy, of course.
Etsy never disappoints! Look at this little beauty!
This is 4 ounces of fiber from Edgewood Garden Studio and it is lovely. I love the punches of color! I’m used to greens and oranges, so I was glad to be reunited with them again. Of course, after so much color deprivation over the past year or so, ANY color at all is welcome!
I also found this fluff too.
Got this from Walnut Farm Designs. It’s called Rusted Robin and it has my two favorite colors (orange and blue) in a much different, much more subtle color key than I’m used to seeing in a fiber. Love the rusty quality to this fluff and it drafts like a dream!!
But, I didn’t stop there. As you saw from the first photo, I bought a spindle!! But not just any spindle. No ma’am. It was time for my wish spindle!
What’s a wish spindle, you say? Glad you asked! A wish spindle is that one that you ogle when you’re a beginner. You wish you knew how to spin well enough to justify buying a spindle worth missing lunch money for a couple weeks. It’s the one you promise yourself when you’re good enough at spinning on a drop spindle, you’ll splurge and get it. This spindle was that spindle for me. Hey, it may not be Chistmas, but Mother’s Day is close enough, right?😉
It’s a Golding Ringspindle. The Cherry Silver Lace.

I’ve had great luck with the Golding Ringspindles. They’re awesome spinners! And, while I wouldn’t mind trying any wood they had, the cherry ones tend to be my favorites. I just like the weight of them, I guess.
This one has a whirl that is a bit larger than the other 2″ Ringspindles in the same class. That makes it a little more difficult to find a safe carrier.
I usually travel with a spindle. When I do, I usually keep it in a water bottle. Since this whorl is slightly larger, it was more difficult to find one that worked for it. But, where there’s a will, there’s always a way.
Now, this has a hole in the top where a straw fits through. But, I just take the straw out, fit in a little fiber at the top to protect the hook, and I’m good to go. And it works. It won’t protect from everything. But, it’ll work knocking around inside of my bag, I think. Note to hydration bottle makers: Think about the spinners that will be using your products, would you??
Ahem. So here are my two travelers looking pretty cute near my window.
If that looks too good to be true to you too, they’ll only sit in there when I am home and spinning on them. Otherwise, they’ll be packed in their bottles. Have spindle, will travel
